The CHDC develop, manage and partner a broad variety of projects and iinitiatives across the Central Highlands, Central Queensland, Queensland and Australia. Below is a list of some of our current projects and the initiatives we are iinvolved with. Please contact us should you require further information.


Name: CH Advance
Description: This project is supported by funding from the Australian Government under the Clever Networks program. The aims of the CH Advance project are to enhance understanding of, access to and the use of broadband in the community. The project also acts as a regional voice to influence infrastructure development and strategic planning regarding broadband in the region.

Name: Q150 celebrations and activities in the Central Highlands
Description:

CHDC has been successful in obtaining funding for celebrations during 2009 at Emerald, Blackwater: Rolleston and Springsure along with seeking assistance to fund a Light Horse Brigade monument at Capella and Bush Poet sessions at Gemfest in August.


Name: REAP - Regional Employer Alliance Project
Description: CHDC and the Regional Employer Alliance Project (REAP) Steering Committee seek to develop a job matching program to attract Central Highlands visitors considering working
and holidaying in the region.

Name: Central Highlands Skills Formation Strategy
Description:

This project is focussed on developing sustainable, collaborative networks across the Central Highlands region which identify solutions to workforce planning and development issues.

With an initial emphasis on the newly-amalgamated Central Highlands Regional Council, it will then expand to other industry and community sectors, including agriculture, tourism and small business.

Scheduled for completion in December 2009, the project will also help to raise the profile of the Central Highlands region through co-operative marketing and regional 'branding' initiatives.


Name: Emerald Multicultural Festival
Description: CHDC undertakes the coordination of this Central Highlands Regional Council event which draws together a proactive committee. Workshops, performances by local and visiting groups, as well a food stalls operated by not-for-profit organisations and a very popular International Beer tent all ensure this free event is well attended. CHDC has submitted funding applications to Queensland Events, Festivals Australia and the Multicultural Assistance Program to assist council in staging this funding. Corporate sponsorship is also sought for this event.

Name: Extensions to the Emerald Airport Terminal
Description:

CHDC has worked with Central Highlands Regional Council to seek funding from both State and Federal governments for this project. To date funding has been obtained through State Government’s Rural Living Infrastructure program.


Name: Emerald's CBD Revitalisation Public Art Project
Description:

CHDC working with Central Highlands Regional Council has been successful in obtaining funding through State Government’s Regional Centres, Q150 Infrastructure Legacy and Federal Government’s Better Regions programs. In 2007 CHDC was involved with council in staging a Streetscape Art Design Competition. The winning designs are now being produced by professional artists. CHDC has sought funding through Art+Places and is currently seeking corporate sponsorship for this project.
